Merton School Sport Mark

In September 2011 all Schools within the Merton SSP will be awarded the ‘Merton School Sport Mark 2012’ accreditation which recognises their commitment to the provision of high quality PE and school sport for their pupils.

 
In our next academic year (September 2012 to August 2013) the 2013 mark will be available at Gold, Silver and Bronze standards. Sports Coordinators will work with their schools to meet the factors required to achieve the standards and complete a self assessment in July 2012 at the MSSP Review Conference.

Factors will consist of:
 

 

  • No. of pupils which receive 2 hours (120mins) of PE per week in a typical term
  • No. of pupils offered extracurricular activity  out of school hours including: sports, multi skills, gym & dance clubs
  • Leadership opportunities provided within sport and dance
  • Total no. of interschool competitive events entered throughout the year (including dance based competitions)
  • Delivery of a school sports day and intra school sport programme (includes dance)
  • No. of pupils who are able to swim 25m unaided

Primary Link Teachers may wish to continue to keep records of the pupil's PE activity using the MSSP Primary PE & Sport Wall Chart.

Schools will receive a certificate and logo to use on their documentation plus recognition for their award on our website.
