High Quality PE & Teacher Training

At Merton SSP we endeavour to support our secondary PE departments and primary schools to provide pupils with high quality PE. We support this through our programmes including leadership academies, links to community clubs, external coaching, competition calendars and by providing teacher and coach training around the national curriculum for PE and sport.

Training
We work closely with our Advance Skills Teacher, Lianne Merrett from Merton Park Primary School and with St Marys University College to provide a range of training opportunities for our primary teachers, NQTs, staff and our sports coaches. This includes our annual MSSP Conference in September as well as NQT PE training in March. As part of her role fro the borough, Lianne is available on Thursdays to go into Merton's Primary schools and support PE lesson planning. Please contact her directly if your school would like some additional support in this area.

We also work with a range of National Governing Bodies to enhance teacher training at KS 1 – 4 and provide recognised courses for our young sports leaders.
