A dynamic partnership
Merton School Sport Partnership is hosted by Harris Academy Morden and is predominantly funded by its Merton primary and special school members to ensure that school sport and PE is well coordinated, delivered in abundance and to a high standard to the students within the borough.
Based in South West London, Merton has a clear geographical split in terms of social economic factors. The west of the borough generally has a higher proportion of wealth compared to the east which has higher areas of deprivation. In the academic year 2014/15, Merton had 43 primary schools, 8 secondary schools and 4 special schools / pupil referral units (PRUs) with around 23,068 Key Stage (KS) 1 – 5 students on role. Of these 298 attend a special school or PRU, 14,018 study at KS 1/2 and 7,536 at KS 3/4.
The majority of the Partnership’s programmes and support are directed at Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with more bespoke programmes targeting Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. By working cohesively as a partnership across the borough we can enhance sporting opportunities for our young people.
