On 21st January, Year 5/6 children from Dundonald, Hollymount, St John Fisher, St Mary's, St Teresa's (not in competition, played friendlies) and Wimbledon Chase took part in Best Team and Girls Team Football Tournaments.

Each school brought a squad of 10 players with 6 playing at any one time.  Matches worked in a league system with each school playing each other once in a 10 minute game.  3 points were awarded for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss.

The results were as follows:

Girls Team

1st      Wimbledon Chase      12 points

2nd     Hollymount                9 points

4th      Dundonald                6 points

5th      St John Fisher           5 points

The tournament was very successful and all the girls enjoyed themselves.

Congratulations to Wimbledon Chase for winning both tournaments.  As winners and runners-up of the Best Team Tournament, Wimbledon Chase and St John Fisher will now proceed to the Merton School Sport Partnership Finals on 25th February at Goals Soccer Centre.

Thanks go to the 16 Sports Leaders who attended on the day from Wimbledon College.  They worked professionally and efficiently as referees, linesmen and results collators.  A special thank you to Stefan Marty at Wimbledon College for helping to select and prepare the Sports Leaders.
