Welcome to Joseph Hood Primary School. We are a one form entry community school for 3-11 year olds based in the Raynes Park/West Wimbledon area. Our school is housed by a single storey building dating from the early 1900s with some later extensions. The school has two playgrounds, with adventure play equipment and an attractive garden area. Amongst our other many advantages are the well-equipped ICT suite with 18computers and our interactive smartboards in every classroom. Joseph Hood holds various national quality awards; Investors in People, Basic Skills Quality Mark and the Healthy Schools’ Awards. The school runs an Ofsted registered breakfast and after school club each day. There are also many clubs that run after school, including dance, football, choir, craft and netball. In 2004, Ofsted said that "Joseph Hood is a good school, which provides its pupils with a good quality of education. The quality of teaching is good". The governors and staff are a friendly, hardworking and supportive team, with high expectations of all pupils. We are committed to working with parents and children to create a culture of high attainment, consideration of others, and openness. Our school motto reflects the aims we share - "’Be the best we can. Visitors to the school are always impressed by the warm welcome, positive atmosphere, happy, polite pupils, friendly staff, interesting displays and the clean, tidy school buildings and grounds. The school welcomes visits from prospective parents and sets time aside for parents to meet with the head teacher and receive a tour around the school. Please telephone school to make an appointment.
