On Wednesday 18th March 2015, 12 primary schools from across the borough came to Merton Schools Sport Partnership inaugural Yr 5/6 Tri-Golf Competition at Wimbledon Park Golf Club. Tri-Golf is a modified version of golf, that uses foam balls, a plastic putter and chipper . The competition is made up of 8 stations; 4 putting and 4 chipping. The objective of the stations is, to work as a team to score as many points as you can in 5 minutes. The winning team is the school with the greatest number of points after completing all 8 stations.
The Merton School Sports Partnership held its annual Yr 5/6 Quicksticks Hockey Borough Competition on Friday 13th March 2015 at Wimbledon High’s Sports Field. 16 primary schools from across the borough took part in the event. Quicksticks is a modified version of hockey suitable for primary aged children. There are only 4 players on pitch with no goal keeper, this makes it easier for primary schools to play as accessing a hockey goal keeping kit is a tricky and costly affair.
MSSP Key Steps 2 Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Competition
The MSSP Key Steps 2 Year 3 & 4 Gymnastics Competition took place on Friday 27th February 2015 at Canons Leisure Centre. 18 schools attended the day: Links, St Teresa’s, Merton Park, Bishop Gilpin, Pelham, Garfield, Wimbledon Park, Poplar, Malmesbury, West Wimbledon, The Sherwood, Hollymount, Sacred Heart, St Matthew’s, Hatfeild, William Morris, Haslemere and Dundonald.
MSSP Key Steps 3 Year 5 & 6 Gymnastics Competition
The first ever MSSP Key Steps 3 Year 5 & 6 Gymnastics Competition took place on Friday 30th January 2015 at Canons Leisure Centre. 17 schools attended the day: Links, St Teresa’s, Dundonald, Bishop Gilpin, Pelham ‘A’, Garfield, St Matthew’s, Poplar, Malmesbury, Merton Park, Wimbledon Chase, Sacred Heart, The Sherwood, Hatfeild, Wimbledon Park, Pelham ‘B’ and St Mary’s.
The Merton School Sport Partnership held its annual KS2 Boccia Competition on Friday 29th January 2016 at Canons Leisure Centre, Mitcham. 16 teams took part in the event, including the two Special Schools: Cricket Green and Perseid. The Boccia competition is an inclusive event and aimed at pupils who would not normally take part in sports teams, giving them an opportunity to participate in a competitive environment.
The MSSP Sportshall Athletics Championships took place at Canons Leisure Centre on Friday 23 January 2015. The day was split into two sessions – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This enabled 20 schools to compete in what is always an exciting, enjoyable and energetic event.
On Thursday 27th November 2014, MSSP hosted the Year 5/6 Girls Football Borough Finals at Tooting & Mitcham FC. This competition is one of the highlights of the MSSP calendar year and it once again proved to be an outstanding event!
The eagerly awaited competition consisted of 16 teams who had qualified for the competition through their prospective cluster competitions. Each team was then placed in a group which consisted of four teams based on where they finished in their cluster round.

The final MSSP of the year took place on Thursday 17th July at Raynes Park Sports Ground.
The Year 3/4 Challenge Run saw over 500 runners battle it out over the two lap course. Different tactics were used, some runners sprinting off hard from the start to get a good lead whilst others started off slow and gradually worked through the field. All races had record numbers of participants...
Liberty Primary School was host to the MSSP Year 4/6 Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on Wednesday 9th July 2014. 10 teams from Liberty, Dundonald, William Morris, Hollymount, Pelham, Poplar, Stanford and Wimbledon Chase were to battle it out to become the 2014 Ultimate Frisbee Borough Champions.
MSSP Year 9 Rounders Tournament took place on Tuesday 8th July at Raynes Park Sports Ground.
The five strong teams entered had all been training hard for the tournament and with the teams playing each other once it was crucial for teams to win all their games.
