Second Round of Rounders

Year 5/6 children from 8 schools braved the scorching heat today to compete in the 2nd Borough Rounders tournament. Play kicked off just after 10.30 following a redraw as one team unfortunately couldn’t make it on the day. Schools were drawn into two pools of 4 and played a rounders robin across four pitches. 

In pool 1 Dundonald set a high standard throughout their games with excellent team work and tactical play which put them through as top of the group. In Pool 2 the games were much closer with Cranmer just beating Aragon to the top place.

MSSP Primary Borough Athletics Championships

On Thursday 21st June, the MSSP held the annual Merton Borough Primary Athletics Championships. There were 31 schools competing the event this year and they were divided into five groups. Athletes would all compete in one field event, one track event and a relay. Track races included: 600m, 150m and 80m, while on the field, athletes would do either the Long Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Discus, Shot Put or Vortex Throw. Placings within each group would be compared to determine each group’s winner and individual event winners.

MSSP Year 5/6 Best Team Cricket Borough Finals

On Friday 8th June, sixteen schools from across Merton competed in the Year 5/6 Best Team Kwik Cricket Finals held at Old Ruts Sports Ground. Each team had qualified from their cluster and had the opportunity to become Merton Champions and represent Merton at the Surrey Kwik Cricket Finals or at the London Youth Games.

Each school was drawn in a group based on their cluster and where they finished in their cluster events.

MSSP Girls Cricket Finals

On Friday 25th May 2018, MSSP held their annual Girls Kwik Cricket Competition at Old Rutlishians CC. Fifteen schools from across the borough entered, with 1st place going on to represent Merton at the Surrey Schools competition and 2nd place representing the borough at the London Youth Games.

Wimbledon Cluster Year 5/6 Best Team Cricket

Wednesday 23rd May saw twelve teams from all eleven Wimbledon schools take part in the Cluster Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket competition held at Old Ruts CC. The crowds came out to support their schools and they were not disappointed, as there was some high quality performances on show. The schools were split into two pools, playing two mini-leagues before they faced off against the school in their respective position from the other league.
