KS2 Inclusive Cross Country

The Merton School Sport Partnership hosted their Inclusive Cross Country Festival at Morden Recreational Ground on Friday 29th September 2017. 17 primary schools took part in the festival that included four race categories: year 3/4 girls, year 3/4 boys, year 5/6 girls and lastly year 5/6 boys. All the racers paced themselves over the 1200m course.

Open to all Merton special and primary schools.

This festival is primarily focused on participation. Teams will play a series of fixtures throughout the festival and there are no overall winners.

Format & Rules

  • First team on pitch will take kick-off.

  • After a goal is scored there will be a restart with a centre kick by the team who did not score the goal.

  • Goalkeepers can only handle the ball in the penalty area.

Inclusive Scatterball Festival

Format & Rules:

  • The batsman distributes all three balls into the playing area, this can be done using a kick, a bat or by throwing the ball, a batting tee maybe also used (no bowler).

  • The batsman must travel around the bases (triangular shaped pitch) before the fielding team can collect all the balls and return them to the batting square.

  • If the batter returns to the batting square before all three balls are returned they score 1 point.

MSSP Inclusive Multi Sports Festival

The Merton Inclusive Multi Sports Festival took place on Thursday 20 October at the Sutton Sports Village Tennis Academy with 19 schools providing 22 teams. The festival is an event designed to encourage participation in sport with the focus being on providing pupils with a fantastic opportunity to try a range of sports in a fun and enjoyable environment. There were 12 stations for pupils to take part in and each school team played against or alongside a different school each time.
