We are back after a blistering summer break. The sun was still shining down on the first MSSP sports event of the new calendar year 2018-19.
On Thursday 27th September the Morden Cluster KS2 Cross Country Festival took place at Harris Academy Morden. Firstly a huge thank you to the sports leaders from HAMD for setting up, stewarding and supporting the event.
Four schools attended the afternoon’s races and each brought a set of eager and willing participants. Abbotsbury, Liberty, Morden and SS Peter & Paul brought runners from KS2 to take part across our four races;
Race 1 – Year 3 and 4 Girls
Race 2 – Year 3 and 4 Boys
Race 3 – Year 5 and 6 Girls
Race 4 – Year 5 and 6 Boys
Students certainly tried their best around the three laps (1000m) of Harris Morden’s sports field and were cheered on by the other schools every step of the way.
Although this was a festival event and no results or records were taken, pupils were still showing great desire to complete the race and trying their best until the finish line. It was definitely great practice for those returning next week for the Inclusive Cross Country event and even the Challenge Run in 2019.
Congratulations to all four schools who took away MSSP participation certificates and a special well done to St. Peter and St Paul School for being nominated by other schools for the first REFSPECT Award of 2018/19.
We are looking forward to a year packed full of sporting events and many more highlights to come.
