The Morden Cluster held its annual Year 5/6 High 5 Netball Competition, on Tuesday 10th November 2017 at Harris Academy Morden. Seven schools took part in the round robin event: Abbotsbury, Morden, St Peter’s & St Paul’s, St Teresa’s, Malmesbury and Singlegate. It was a windy day but this didn’t seem to phase the players.

The first round of matches to get underway were Singlegate v St Peter’s & St Paul’s and Liberty v Abbotsbury, there was action on both courts resulting in wins for both Abbotsbury and St Peter’s & St Paul’s enabling them both to secure and early 3 points.

St Teresa’s v Malmesbury and Singlegate v Liberty began play with all four teams demonstrating some excellent play being able to pass the ball easily from one end of the court to the other. It was excellent to see all members of the team involved in helping to secure goals to help their team try to secure a top four finish.

Throughout the next few rounds Abbotsbury began to dominate the competition and were able to score an average of 6 goals per game and finish the matches unbeaten. However Malmesbury put on an excellent display and only lost one match throughout the whole competition.

Well done to all teams who came out and gave a great display of team work, sportsmanship and determination throughout all matches played. Also a huge well done to St Peter’s & St Paul’s for being our RefSpect winners. Final results are as follows:

1st Abbotsbury

2nd Malmesbury

3rd Liberty

4th St Teresa’s

5th St Peter’s & St Paul’s

6th Morden

7th Singlegate

Congratulations to Abbotsbury on becoming the Morden Cluster High 5 Netball Champions for the second year in a row. Thank you to Harris Academy Morden for hosting the event and to the primary schools for bringing their teams. Good luck to all four teams at the Borough Finals on Friday 3rd November 2017.
