The Merton School Sport Partnership hosted their Inclusive Cross Country Festival at Morden Recreational Ground on Thursday 29th September 2016. 12 primary schools took part in the festival which included 4 race categories: year 3/4 girls, year 3/4 boys, year 5/6 girls and lastly year 5/6 boys. All the racers paced themselves over the 1300m course.

After a rainy morning luckily the sun came out just as the first schools started to arrive, this brightening the mood and atmosphere for all of the schools competing. As the year 3/4 girls stepped up to the line each school cheered on their teammates, the team spirit was fantastic throughout. The atmosphere that was generated spurred on the runners as they all put in 100% effort to complete each race. There was a lot of promising talent on display. This was demonstrated from those runners who paced themselves to the final 50m to then give themselves a sprint finish across the line.

Thank you to all the schools that took part in this great event. The partnership would now like to encourage all runners to continue their hard work and hope to see them competing in the 2017 Challenge Run’s which take place on 30th March for year 5/6 and 20th April year 3/4.

Schools Entered: Bond, Dundonald, Liberty, Links, Perseid, Poplar, Sacred Heart, Singlegate, St Marys, St Peter’s & St Paul’s, St Teresa’s and William Morris.
