On Tuesday 6th November the Raynes Park Cluster Y3/4 Football Festival took place at Raynes Park High School Sports Field. 10 out of the 11 cluster schools were represented, with Poplar bringing an A and B team. Teams were split into two pools with each team playing the other schools in their pool.

As this was a festival with no overall winner, the emphasis was on enjoyment and development rather than being results driven. However this did not dampen the quality of football on display with all schools demonstrating some outstanding work in both attack and defence. Furthermore, some of the shots on goal were not too dissimilar to the firecrackers of last night’s bonfire celebrations, shooting into the top corners with dazzling precision.

What was also extremely pleasing was the level of sportsmanship and respect displayed between all players and spectators. This created a brilliant atmosphere for the tournament to take place in. A Team that demonstrated this in abundance was St Matthew’s school, who were this tournaments Refspect winners. Congratulations guys!

A special mention must also go to Raynes Park High School for the use of their facilities as well as their fabulous sports leadership team who refereed the matches superbly. Thank you all!
