On Wednesday 6th July, 5 outstanding secondary school sports leaders from Merton were selected to attend the Merton School Sports Partnership Leadership Reward of a White Water Rafting Trip at Lee Valley due to their outstanding efforts with sports leadership over the past year. The students who attended were Pepe and Mark from Harris Academy Merton, Annabel and Catherine from Ursuline and Mark and Kieran from Rutlish.
Lee Valley Regional Park Authority invited schools and young people from across the park’s funding authorities in London, Hertfordshire and Essex to the sixth annual schools festival. The festival provided over 500 young people with the opportunity to experience whist water rafting on the spectacular Olympic Standard Competition Course at Lee Valley White Water Centre.
The rafting experience took approximately two hours and included 3 laps of the Olympic Course. The students had an excellent day out and really valued the opportunity of being able to try out the course. Thank you to Lee Valley for giving the students this opportunity and well done to the leaders for being selected.
