On Thursday 8 February at Dundonald Recreation Ground, the Wimbledon Primary School Cluster Year 3/4 Football Festival took place. With ten schools entered and an amazing seventeen teams competing, everybody was buzzing with anticipation. The teams were split into three leagues where they would play a round robin format and get to show off their skills while having the honour of representing their school. With the event being a festival and no offical scores being recorded, this allowed all players to play without inhibition and just enjoy their football

On a very chilly morning the teams kicked off and goals were flying in from the very start of the festival. Matches were 7 minutes in duration, providing amply opportunity for all attending children to be some considerable game time throughout the afternoon. In addition to this, it was fantastic to see all competing schools score some sublime goals against each other. Some of these were through thunderous individual efforts, as well as a result of some intricate team support play.

Many thanks to all of those in attendance that helped to create a brilliant atmosphere, which demonstrated some fantastic sportsmanship and respect between the teams. One school that really stood out however in terms of their respect and positive attitude no matter the final result was Holy Trinity and they received the most votes for this competitions Refspect award. Well done guys!
